Frequently Asked Questions

1.    What can my player expect when they come to tryouts, evaluations or assessments?

a.    They will first check in at the table in the lobby. There they will receive a jersey that they will use for the duration of the ice sessions. As part of the process, we will verify their season jersey size. We will have someone there to size season jerseys for them if needed.

2.    If my player tryouts for a competitive team and is not selected, do I need to register them for A Division Evaluations and pay an additional fee?

a.    No, we will move their registration to the A Division, there is no fee due and they should plan to attend those evaluation times.

3.    If my player tryouts for an A team and is not selected, do I need to register them for B Division Assessments?

a.    No, we will move their registration to the B Division. They should plan to attend the assessments for their age division.

4.    After tryouts/evaluations/assessments, what is the next step?

a.    After each set of tryouts/evaluations/assessments the coaches will select the teams. From there players will either be contacted by the coach or the association.

5.    Once you have registered your player and added a source of payment to the website, will my credit card/bank account be charged automatically?

a.    Yes, your credit card/bank account will be charged monthly for the payment plan amount. If the payment cannot process, we will automatically continue to charge it periodically until the payment is processed. The website will notify you that the payment source needs to be updated.

6.    What dates are the registration payments due?

a.    When you register for the 6U/8U/B divisions the first payment will be charged at that time. From there the other installments will be charged on 9/15,10/15,11/15 and the final payment will be made on 12/15.

7.    Why are players asked for a copy of their Birth Certificate?

a.    USAH requires that we verify every player’s age by either viewing their Birth Certificate or Passport. You will be contacted if the player’s Birth Certificate or Passport is required.

8.    Does HCF have a scholarship program?

a.    Yes, we do! Applications are on the website and are due by November 1. If selected the scholarship will pay 50% of the fees for 6U,8U, A and B divisions. It will also pay $500 for players on Competitive teams.

9.    If I rent gear for my 6U, 8U or 10U player, when will my player’s account be charged?

a.    We will charge the player’s account on Nov 1. It will be charged $100.

10. Where are the rinks located that my player will be playing at?

a.    We utilize 5 rinks in the Interior for our program, Big Dipper, UAF Patty Ice, Polar Ice Center, Ft. Wainwright and Carlson Center.

11. What gear does my child need and where can I get it?

a.    Visit our Resource page for a link to how to put on your player’s gear and what gear they will need. Visit Play It Again Sports and tell them your child is playing hockey and they will help you get all required gear.

12. What do all the different levels of hockey mean?

13. If I have additional questions, who do I reach out to?
